Waste Clearance and Disposal

Balfour Beatty Living Places (the client) working on behalf of Wokingham Borough Council, were planning to provide a car park area within a travelers site in Wokingham. The proposed site for the works contained various wastes including end of life vehicles.
 
VertaseFLI was commissioned by the Client to visit the site to assess the waste and subsequently remove. The waste consisted of soil, general waste, tyres, gas bottles, drummed liquid waste, WWII equipment and asbestos.

Further Information

VertaseFLI was employed to undertake the following works at the site:

  • Waste identification and assessment.
  • Identification of appropriately licensed disposal/recycling facilities and acquirement of permits. 
  • Removal of end of life vehicles required for access.
  • Waste segregation.
  • Supply of UN approved packaging required for transit of hazardous waste.
  • Packaging hazardous waste.
  • Sampling soil and liaison with independent MCERTS accredited laboratory required for soil classification.
  • Removal and disposal of soil.
  • Loading skips with general waste.
  • Transit of gas bottles back to suppliers.
  • Demolish shed.
  • Grade the site to formation level.

 
All works were undertaken in accordance with the following regulations:

  • The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
  • The Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005.
  • The Environment Protection (Duty of Care) Regulations 1991.
