Company History

Vertase

Vertase was founded in 2000 by a group of individuals from within contracting and consulting within the contaminated land industry.  The business was developed, initially within the South West, and expanded year on year with both project size and scope of works until its eventual opening of a a second office in Sheffield in 2004.  The company continued its growth organically up to its eventual purchase by FLI International in 2005.  By nature of its acquisition the company founded its third office in Hertfordshire in 2005.  With the size of project expanding VertaseFLI made a decision to retain all the required skills in house which led to the development and opening of a dedicated in-situ and groundwater plant manufacturing centre close to the Sheffield office.  Aspirations and an increasing workload in the Northwest led to the opening of a fourth office in 2007 in Manchester to serve clients more effectively in this region.

VertaseFLI now encompasses both contaminated land contracting and landfill construction from its four UK bases which gives us unrivalled coverage of the UK as a specialist contractor.

The Group

Established in 1984 in Waterford, Eire, FLI International was a dedicated geomembrane installer.  Expanding its operations to the UK in 1996 and to France in 2002 the group became truly international and begin to develop other areas of the business.  Changing its name in 2002 to FLI Environmental to reflect the more diverse scope of its projects, the FLI Group passed its 20th year of operation continuing its expansion and development within the Environmental Contracting sector.

With offices in Waterford, France, the UK and New Caledonia the group can offer true international capability across its services.  The acquisition of Brightwater and ABiC from Bord Na Mona in 2007 added further skills within the waste water and effluent treatment sector.  With establishment of a head office for the groups waste to energy company 3NRG at the VertaseFLI headquarters in Bristol and commencement of the development of its first waste to energy site in Bridgend, South Wales this marks a further milestone in the groups expansion and diversification.
