Summary Design and build construction project consisting of public art features, street lighting, pedestrian walkway and landscaping within the Temple Quay complex. VertaseFLI were Main Contractor overseeing archaeological investigation around the city wall remains, together with remediation works and construction of a viewing chamber above the remains. The aforementioned together with the M&E, soft and hard landscaping installation, required comprehensive project management skills and liaison with a number of suppliers and stakeholders. Project Tasks
- Identification, classification, removal and disposal of contaminated soils.
- Archaeological investigation of the medieval city wall remains and soils contained within the proposed foundations.
- Installation of 15No. 15m deep piles with a tripod piping rig, monitoring the affects and protecting the medieval remains.
- Construction of 10m x 10m chamber around the medieval remains with pre-cast concrete beams installed to enclose the chamber leaving a 1m x 2m viewing hole. Fibre optic lighting was installed to illuminate the visible sections of the medieval remain, along with service lighting and humidstat controlled heating.
- Paving slabs and cobbled areas were completed throughout the site before the street furniture and lighting units were installed.
- Installation of 6No. Granite sculptures and associated infrastructure.
- In other areas of the site landscaping was completed by comprehensive planting of trees and shrubs and installation of an underground watering system.
