Summary Working in conjunction with the client and his project management team VertaseFLI has recently undertaken the demolition, site clearance and remediation of a housing development and former sewage treatment works. Through careful management of site operations and the identification of clean materials, and thorough risk assessment, VertaseFLI was able to significantly minimise the amounts of material requiring treatment or off site disposal. Through liaison with the Client, VertaseFLI programmed activities to enable works to be undertaken in three phases to fit in with the client’s timescales.
Scope of Works
- General site clearance including removal of vegetation
- Removal of asbestos containing materials from houses
- Decommissioning of site services
- Demolition of housing including uplift of roads and pavements
- Crushing demolition materials
- Working around live services
- Ecological survey
- Decommissioning of sewage works including breaking out of underground tanks
- Additional site investigation including characterisation of benzo(a)pyrene in topsoil
- Quantitative risk assessment
- Segregation of clean fill materials from contaminated materials
- Testing of clean fill materials to prove suitability for use
- Remediation of contaminated soils by ex-situ bioremediation
- Validation of remediation works
