Ongoing Contract VertaseFLI is retained by Raynesway Construction (Highway Agency Term Contractor) to provide 24 Hour Environmental Cover for A road and motorways in the Bristol Area.
Emergency Response
On the evening of the 26th August 2004 VertaseFLI attended a road traffic accident involving an articulated lorry carrying offal which had overturned spilling its load across the carriageway.
VertaseFLI in conjunction with the Emergency Services concluded that removal of the offal and decontamination of the road should, due to safety concerns, be undertaken during day light hours.
Spill prevention measures were immediately instigated to contain the spilt materials to a single carriageway enabling partial reopening of the motorway.
On the following morning VertaseFLI recovered both the offal which had spilt across the road and that which remained within the lorry. VertaseFLI transported the recovered materials to an appropriately licensed waste management facility for subsequent disposal.
Following decontamination of the area control of the crash site was turned over to the Emergency Services and the lorry was recovered.
