Project Planning At the project planning stage VertaseFLI assessed the feasibility of a range of in-situ and ex-situ remedial solutions to identify a preferred technical solution which would meet the requirements of the Regulators, minimise programming and financial risks and project costs.
Bioremediation Following competitive tendering of the project VertaseFLI commenced work on the bioremediation of approximately 6,000 m3 of hydrocarbon contaminated soil in a static biopile.
Site works were undertaken in accordance with the requirements of a Mobile Plant Licence. Post-Remediation Works Following remediation the treated soils were re-used within the proposed development, eliminating the requirements for off-site disposal of contaminated soils.
Concrete was crushed on site to create 5000 m3 of secondary aggregate. Segregation of Made Ground at the point of excavation enabled 2000 m3 of clean fill material to be identified and stockpiled separately for future re-use. The re-use of the treated soils, crushed concrete and clean made ground minimised traffic movements to and from the site, provided a significant reduction in the environmental impact of the works and minimised the use of resources. |
